Hound Dogs Duo Earn International Recognition with Gibraltar U21 Call-Ups
FC Hound Dogs are proud to announce that standout performers Shane Borda and Aiden Mansfield have both received call-ups to the Gibraltar U21 national squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.
The recognition comes as a reward for what has been an exceptional season for both players, each playing a key role in the Hound Dogs’ campaign.
Shane Borda has been a model of consistency throughout the season, featuring in 21 of the club’s 23 matches and accumulating an impressive 1,780 minutes on the pitch. His reliability, composure, and high-level performances have made him a cornerstone of the team, and his call-up is a testament to his hard work and influence.
Meanwhile, Aiden Mansfield has made a significant impact since joining the club in January from Manchester 62. Despite arriving mid-season, he has quickly established himself as an exciting attacking option, making 7 appearances and consistently troubling opposition defenses with his pace, energy, and direct style of play.
Both players have earned their opportunity on the international stage and will now look to carry their club form into these crucial qualifiers. Facing strong opposition in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, the experience will provide a valuable test and an opportunity to represent Gibraltar at a high level.

Player of the Season
Voted by the coaching staff, Yousef Al Shubasi was named FC Hound Dogs Player of the Season after a truly outstanding campaign.
A rock at the back all year, Yousef delivered countless top-class performances and huge moments when it mattered most. From his dramatic 94th-minute equaliser against Mons Calpe to the ice-cold winning penalty in the Rock Cup shootout against Magpies, he consistently stepped up on the big stage.
Reliable, composed, and driven — a fully deserved winner.
Players’ Player of the Season
To cap off an incredible year, Yousef also took home the Players’ Player of the Season, voted for by his teammates.
To be recognised by your colleagues speaks volumes, and this double award highlights just how influential he has been both on and off the pitch.

Fans’ Player of the Season
The fans had their say — and Shane Borda emerged victorious with over 25% of the total vote.
The response was incredible, with over 200 supporters participating from countries including Jamaica, USA, France, Guinea Bissau and many more — a true reflection of the growing global Hound Dogs family.
Shane has been a commanding presence at the back all season, putting in consistent, aggressive, and disciplined performances. A leader in defence and a player who wears the badge with pride.
Most Improved Player
Awarded by the coaching staff, the Most Improved Player went to Nelson Benga.
After finding minutes hard to come by at the start of the season, Nelson turned things around in spectacular fashion. Since the turn of the year, he has been outstanding in the right wing-back role, showing energy, maturity, and tactical discipline week after week.
A testament to hard work and perseverance.
Clubman of the Year
The penultimate award of the evening recognised someone who truly embodies the spirit of FC Hound Dogs — Jesse Gonzalez.
Our goalkeeper has largely played second fiddle this season, but his contribution goes far beyond match minutes. Always positive, always supportive, never complaining, and constantly bringing energy to the changing room — his influence has not gone unnoticed.
A true clubman in every sense.

The final award of the night went to Souleymane Diallo, who claimed the Top Scorer award — somewhat controversially, with one league game still to play!
